Beloved Enfield Doctor Dies Suddenly, Leaves Behind His Wife And 2 Young Sons
A GoFundMe campaign says the doctor suffered cardiac arrest and leaves behind his wife and two young sons.
ENFIELD, CT — A well-known Enfield physician died suddenly earlier this month, and his family is now seeking community support to help navigate the aftermath of his unexpected death.
According to a GoFundMe campaign organized by his brother, Dr. Gerard Pregenzer, 47, suffered sudden cardiac arrest on Monday, Jan. 12. Pregenzer was a urologist and the head of Pregenzer Urology, an independent medical practice serving patients in the Enfield area.

The fundraiser describes Pregenzer as a devoted physician who built his practice around patient care, professionalism, and integrity. Family members said he was widely respected by patients and colleagues for both his clinical expertise and his personal approach to medicine.

Pregenzer is survived by his wife, Tania Papayannopoulou-Pregenzer, and their two sons, Dino, 10, and Mario, 9, according to the GoFundMe page.
The campaign notes that Pregenzer was the primary provider for his family and that, because he operated his own practice, his sudden death has created immediate financial and logistical challenges. Funds raised through the campaign are intended to help cover ongoing expenses and provide short-term financial stability for his wife and children.

According to the fundraiser, Pregenzer had a background in music before entering medicine, earning degrees in music composition and music education. Family members said he carried a lifelong commitment to learning that extended into both his professional and personal life.
The GoFundMe was created by his brother, Joseph Pregenzer, who said the family hopes the financial support will allow Pregenzer’s wife and children to focus on grieving and healing without the added pressure of sudden expenses.
