The park, set in a bowl in the Hazardville section of Enfield, annually hosted several Enfield High School games for many years. The varsity team began using Powder Hollow as its home field regularly beginning late in the 2018 season, leaving the two fields at the high school for use by the junior varsity and freshman teams.

"This is a project that is long overdue," Mayor Bob Cressotti told Patch. "Our town will now have a state-of-the-art baseball facility that our community and players will be proud of. It will be exciting for the Enfield High School baseball program, our legion programs and our junior development programs."

In 2021, the town council approved $689,000 for upgrades to the park, including the installation of lights. The following spring, the field was dedicated to Bob Bromage, the Enfield baseball coach for nearly four decades.

Bromage told Patch, "I'm overwhelmed at the amount of work they are going to do to provide a first-class facility."
