Brief Storm Causes Power Outages, Road Closures In Enfield
A powerful storm blew through town late Thursday afternoon, knocking out power and damaging numerous trees.

ENFIELD, CT — A brief but powerful storm tore through Enfield late Thursday afternoon, causing numerous trees to fall and closing a number of town roads.
At 7:39 p.m., an alert on the Everbridge notification system said, "Numerous roads closed due to trees down. This is a town wide event. Please avoid any unnecessary travel. If you must travel allow for extra time for detours."
Power was still out in the Pearl and North Main street areas of Thompsonville at 8:30 p.m.

As of 9 p.m., the following roads remained closed:
- New King Street at Garfield Street
- Route 5 between Post Office and Broad Leaf Lane
- South Road between Route 5 and Phoenix Avenue
- North Maple Street between Brainard Road and the state line
