Bryant University, Smithfield RI

  • Bryant University is pleased to recognize a pair of students from Enfield who have been named to the President's List for fall 2017: Erica Lovering, class of 2021, and Ryan McKenzie, class of 2018. The President's List is an academic distinction reserved for Bryant's highest achievers who earn a GPA of 4.0 or better for at least 12 semester hours of work.

  • A record-breaking 41 Eastern Connecticut State University students presented their research at the 2018 National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) from April 4-7 at the University of Central Oklahoma. Among the presenters was Emily Miclon of Enfield, who majors in Music. Miclon's research was titled "Missing Marimba: The Use of the Marimba in the High Schools of Massachusetts and Connecticut." Miclon's research was completed under the supervision of Professor of Music Okon Hwang.
  • Displays of research and creativity filled the Student Center at Eastern Connecticut State University on April 13 for the annual CREATE conference. CREATE stands for "Celebrating Research Excellence and Artistic Talent at Eastern," and is the University's premier undergraduate conference of the academic year.
    Presenters from Enfield were Emily Miclon, who majors in Music and gave a poster presentation titled "Equilibrium: A Memoir Of Self-Harm And Alcohol Abuse"; Jessica Miclon, who majors in English and Sociology and gave two oral presentations and a poster presentation, titled respectively "Equilibrium: A Memoir Of Self-Harm And Alcohol Abuse"; "La Musique En Plein Air: Debussy And Open Air Freedom"; and "From Female Hysteria To Hook-Ups: Sexuality In American Women" and "La Musique En Plein Air: Debussy And Open Air Freedom"; and Matthew Stroiney, who majors in Communication and gave an oral presentation titled "Population Structure And Dispersal Patterns Of North American Black Terns (Chlidonias Niger) Inferred By Cytochrome-B Gene." CREATE featured more than 200 students of all majors who led oral and poster presentations, panel discussions, music and dance performances, art and photography exhibitions, as well as documentary viewings and new-media demonstrations.
