ENFIELD, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

  • Eastern Connecticut State University graduated 227 undergraduate and graduate students at the conclusion of the fall 2019 semester. Among the graduates were Enfield residents Haley Bensley, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry; Elizabeth Bridges, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences; and Elizabeth D'Alessandro, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Communication.
  • Eastern Connecticut State University recently released its fall 2019 Dean's List for full-time and part-time students. Among the students on the list, including their majors, are Enfield residents Elizabeth Bridges, Health Sciences; James Callaghan, Sport & Leisure Management; Joshua Carroll, Biochemistry; Wesley Isaac, Business Administration; Stephanie Kula, Communication; Kaela Marrero, Pre-Social Work; Jessica Merluzzi, Communication; Christian Osada, Computer Science; Katelynn Scalia, English; Alexis Schacht, Theatre; and Sarah Theriault, Criminology. Recognition for the Dean's List is given at the end of each semester to matriculated students in good academic standing with a GPA of 3.50 or higher.

Emerson College, Boston MA

  • Kayla Randolph, a native of Enfield, has been named to the Emerson College Dean's List for the fall 2019 semester. Randolph is majoring in Writing, Lit & Pub: Publishing and is a member of the Class of 2021. The requirement to make Emerson's Dean's List is a grade point average of 3.7 or higher.

Southern Connecticut State University, New Haven CT

  • Southern Connecticut State University men's cross country's Connor Shannahan of Enfield was named to the 2020 Northeast 10 Conference Cross Country Academic All-Conference Team, as announced by the NE10 on Monday, Feb. 3, 2020. To be eligible for selection to the NE10 Academic All-Conference teams, a student-athlete must have met or exceeded the following minimum requirements: started in at least half or played in at least two-thirds of the team's competitions as a significant contributor and achieved a 3.30 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale). Shannahan, a senior, carries a 3.925 cumulative GPA while majoring in sport management. He earned his second-straight NE10 Academic All-Conference nod after being named to the 2018 team. This season, Shannahan earned NE10 First Team recognition after he finished fifth at the NE10 Championship with a time of 27:26.5. He led the Owls to a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Regional after finishing in 12th place.

University of Hartford, West Hartford CT

  • The University of Hartford is pleased to announce the following 16 students from Enfield have been named to the Dean's List for fall 2019: Dax Avery, Sean Cooney, Jocelyn Degray, Madisen DiLauro, Madilyn Ludwick, Jack MacDonald, Spencer Mailhoit, Olivia Mas, Eleni Mastromatteo, Skyler McGrath, Justin Miller, Christopher Piekos, Joshua Roy, Nicholas Ryder, Spencer Scutt and Damien Zaharis.

University of Rhode Island, Kingston RI

  • Ben Carleen, Ashley MacGregor and Jessica Williams, all of Enfield, have been named to URI's fall 2019 Dean's List. To be included on the Dean's List, students must have completed 12 or more credits during a semester for letter grades with at least a 3.30 quality point average.
