Change of Plans for Enfield DMV Office Hours

A water leak at the Wethersfield office has prompted the schedule change.

The Enfield Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) office will now be open for the rest of the week.

Originally, it was scheduled to be closed for staff computer training but a major water leak at the Wethersfield DMV Branch Office at the state Department of Motor Vehicles has prompted the schedule change.

The Wethersfield office will be closed to the public Wednesday, Feb. 25, and the DMV will notify employees about the time to report to work Wednesday and their schedules. DMV had planned to close them for training on a new computer system until the water leak occurred in Wethersfield.

Road skills and knowledge tests are also canceled for Wednesday in Wethersfield and the inspection lanes there will be closed for the day.

However, administrative hearings will be held as scheduled for Wednesday in the Wethersfield office.

“We know this closing is an inconvenience for many customers. I would like them to know we are working diligently to re-open the office once all the necessary repairs and safety checks have been done,” DMV Commissioner Andres Ayala Jr. said in a statement.

The office closings on Tuesday and Wednesday stemmed from electrical and other associated problems following a cold-weather break in a water line. It sent water gushing into lower parts of the office at 60 State St.

For customers who planned to use that office, there are nearby service centers. Information about these and updates on DMV operations can be found at ct.gov/dmv.

Customers needing in-person license or registration services can visit the Enfield (4 Pearson Way) and New Britain (85 North Mountain Road) branch offices. AAA offices, which can be located at ct.gov/dmv/offices, also do license and identification card renewals and replacements.

Anyone needing to reschedule a road test should call 860-263-5700 within the Hartford area and toll-free 800-842-8222 in the remainder of the state.
