Church Sign Stolen From Enfield Cemetery

A church sign that was being stored at a cemetery has been stolen, Enfield police said.

ENFIELD, CT — Enfield police are looking for thieves who made off with a church sign.

Police said the sign is for St. Adalbert Roman Catholic Church and was being stored at the St. Adalbert Cemetery on Belmont Avenue.

Police are asking that anyone with information in the theft to contact them at elarson@enfield.org or 860-763-6400, Ext. 1453.

St. Adalbert Church was a fixture in town from 1915 until it was closed in early 2022 to remediate a mold issue in the basement. The mold was removed and remediated in May 2022, but the church was not reopened for regular worship.

The sale of the church property is nearing completion.
