Community Activists Form "Friends of Enfield PD" Group
Recent hostilities, including the murders of a number of police officers, prompted an Enfield resident to create the group.

ENFIELD, CT — The recent predominance of hostilities involving law enforcement officers in the United States has prompted an Enfield resident to form a group seeking to establish rapport and good feeling among members of the community and those sworn to protect it.
Friends of the Enfield PD began as a Facebook support page created on July 16 by resident Stacy Huot, and has quickly grown to include 445 members as of Wednesday evening.
"The crazy things going on in our country as of late prompted me to start this community group," Huot said. "I have met with the chief and we have his full support. We hope to build a bridge between the community and the police."

The recent murders of police officers in Dallas and Baton Rouge, coupled with extreme tensions in other areas between police officers and citizens, inspired Huot to create the group.
The first formal meeting of Friends of the Enfield PD, which is open to the public, will be held Aug. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Enfield Police Department headquarters at 293 Elm Street.
