Complaints About Scam Calls Soliciting Money For Enfield Police

Police Chief Alaric Fox said calls being received by Enfield residents soliciting donations for the department are a scam.

ENFIELD, CT — An apparent onslaught of telephone calls being made to residents seeking donations on behalf of the police department are a scam, Police Chief Alaric Fox said.

Several people reported receiving the calls Thursday morning, then reporting the call to police who advised them it is a scam. One resident said he was asked for a $100 donation in a call which allegedly came from a telephone number which started with 749, a local prefix for Enfield and Somers.

Patch dialed the number listed, 860-749-2181, and received a recording stating the number was not in service.

Anyone receiving suspicious calls is advised to check with police before responding.
