Convicted Felon from Enfield Charged With Assaulting Mom
He is accused of striking and giving her a bloody face during an altercation Saturday evening.
ENFIELD, CT — A convicted felon from Enfield was arrested Saturday evening following an altercation with his mother which turned violent when he allegedly struck her and bloodied her face, police said.
Walter Parkhurst, 45, of 177 Elm St., was charged with third-degree assault on an elderly victim, disorderly conduct and criminal possession of a firearm. Bond was set at $10,000 cash, and he was scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Enfield Superior Court.
Police Chief Carl Sferrazza said officers were summoned to the home around 7:30 p.m. for a reported domestic dispute between a woman and her adult son. Upon arrival, police found a considerable amount of blood on the woman's face near her left eye.

The victim told officers her son had been drinking all day, and a verbal argument with him turned physical when he struck her in the face and repeatedly pushed her by the neck and chin into a wall. While he continued the assault, the victim's other son called police, Sferrazza said.
After being taken into custody, Parkhurst told police he owns an 18th-century Swiss rifle which is still capable of firing. His brother retrieved the weapon and surrendered it to officers, Sferrazza said.
