Counseling Ordered for Enfield Fire Official
A deputy fire marshal is accused of using inappropriate language around children.
A deputy fire marshal with the Enfield Fire Department has been ordered to attend counseling following his use of inappropriate language at an elementary school program in June, the Hartford Courant reported.
Thomas Barry received a memo from Fire Chief Ed Richards on June 29 which stated, “Per our discussion this morning you are required to undergo counseling as a result of events that occurred on and around June 8, 2015,” according to documents obtained by the Courant via a Freedom of Inormation request.
Barry had allegedly used words like “stupid” and “shut up” while leading a fire safety instruction session with third-graders at the Eli Whitney School on Middle Road, the paper reported.
