Crash Closes Stretch Of Post Office Road In Enfield
A snapped utility pole, downed power lines and a transformer explosion caused power outages and road closures in Enfield Thursday night.

ENFIELD, CT — A car crashed into a utility pole on Post Office Road and Route 5 Thursday night, causing power outages and road closures which extended into Friday morning.
The crash was reported at 6:33 p.m., according to Enfield police logs. A car hit the pole, snapping it and prompting numerous residents in the area to lose power, police said.
On social media, a number of residents reported seeing a bright flash of light, which turned out to be the result of a transformer explosion, Police Chief Alaric Fox said.

Several roadways in the vicinity were temporarily closed due to the crash. As of 9 a.m. Friday, Post Office Road remained closed between Route 5 and Post Road, Fox said.
Power had been restored to all Eversource customers by 9 a.m., according to the utility's website.

Fox did not have any information whether any injuries were sustained in the crash.
