Crash With Serious Injuries Closes Interstate 91 Off-Ramp In Enfield
A collision between a box truck and a sport utility vehicle necessitated extrication of two people, both of whom sustained serious injuries.

ENFIELD, CT — A collision between a commercial box truck and a sport utility vehicle on Route 5 Tuesday afternoon resulted in serious injuries to two occupants of the SUV, and closure of the Interstate 91 exit 49 off-ramp for several hours.
The crash was reported at 4:28 p.m., and emergency personnel extricated two people from the SUV, which bore Massachusetts plates. Both were taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with suspected serious injuries, according to a report from Officer Jeff Peterson.
The southbound ramp was closed for about two hours while investigators worked at the scene, re-opening around 6:40 p.m. The Enfield Police Department Traffic Division requested the Department of Motor Vehicles to complete an inspection of the box truck, police said.
