Denny's Closes Enfield Location After More Than 45 Years In Business
The 24-hour chain restaurant made its Enfield debut in 1976.

ENFIELD, CT — A national chain restaurant which served hundreds of thousands of customers on Elm Street over the past 45 years, particularly after closing time at local watering holes, has shut its doors.
A sign on the door at Denny's reads, "To our valued customers: effective 9/13/22 this unit is [permanently] closed. Please visit us at our Vernon location, 35 Talcottville Rd., or [Springfield] location, 1284 Boston Road."
Since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, the restaurant was no longer open 24 hours a day.

According to Enfield property records, the 4,820 square-foot facility was built in 1976, on a site which formerly contained old homes. It was one of the few eateries open around the clock, becoming a go-to destination for revelers leaving nearby bars such as the Pumpernickel Pub, Katie's Cafe, Memories Cafe, the 190 East Lounge and countless others.
For more than two decades during the 1980s and 1990s, Denny's patrons were served by a waitress named Koreen Valeo. No one knew her by that name, but rather by her nickname: Ma. Enfield Patch remembered Ma in a 2016 story, which may be read here.
