Dozens Honored at Enfield Police Awards Ceremony [VIDEO]

Police officers, dispatchers and private citizens were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments in a ceremony Wednesday.

ENFIELD, CT — More than 20 police department personnel and a dozen citizens were among the honorees at the Enfield Police Department's award ceremony Wednesday night at the Enfield Senior Center.

The honorees and their accomplishments were:

  • Robert Maltese and Kathleen Shattuck - Commendation Letter - Dispatchers working in concert to develop, obtain, and provide information integral to the rapid apprehension of an aggravated assault suspect.
  • Kenneth Maltese and Kimberly Hanley - Commendation Letter - Dispatchers working in concert to provide aid to a co-worker suffering a medical emergency while maintaining functional communication center operations.
  • Kathleen Shattuck - Departmental Citation - Dispatcher who provided instruction in administering CPR over the phone to parents trying to revive a child who had drowned, resulting in successful resuscitation.
  • Off. Michael Emons - Certificate of Merit - For the promotion, contribution, and leadership provided concerning the establishment of a camera installation project and Joint Operations Center.
  • Officers Matthew Alexander and Ryan Bartolucci - Commendation Letter - Foot pursuit and apprehension of a fleeing suspect who had been armed with a handgun.
  • Officers Brandon Caires and Michael Colantuono - Commendation Letter - Discovery of explosives in a private residence and initiating arrangements for their safe removal.
  • Off. Michael Colantuono - Commendation Letter - Assisting in CPR on an unresponsive collision victim.
  • Officers Michael Lynch, Jacob Ryan and Steven Prior - Commendation Letter - Preventing an active suicide attempt by a wanted suspect.
  • Officers Joshua Pinsker and Brandon Krasinkiewicz - Commendation Letter - Assisting in the prevention of an active suicide attempt.
  • Officers Nicholas Ragion and David McGann - Commendation Letter - Successfully taking into custody an emotionally disturbed person armed with a knife and threatening officers.
  • Off. Eric Schmidt - Commendation Letter - Discovery of evidence integral to the arrest of armed robbery suspects.
  • Detective Gary Castle - Meritorious Service Medal - Leading a homicide investigation resulting in the arrest of a suspect.
  • Off. Robert Moeller - Distinguished Service Medal - Assisting in the prevention of an active suicide attempt.
  • Off. Robert Moeller - Distinguished Service Medal - Successful investigation to locate a missing suicidal individual.
  • Officers Timothy Gerrish, Vanessa Magagnoli and Daniel Maynard - Distinguished Service Medal - Physical rescue of a suicidal person who drove her car into the Connecticut River.
  • Enfield Police Detective Division - Unit Citation - Collaborative investigation of a homicide leading to the arrest of a suspect.
  • Capitol Region Emergency Services Team (C.R.E.S.T.) - Unit Citation - Successful apprehension of an armed and barricaded suspect who fired on police vehicles.
  • C.R.E.S.T. Team Members: Sgt. Nicholas King, Off. Matthew Alexander (Enfield), Sgt. Richard Monge, Paramedic Jason Bak (Manchester), Off. Peter Brander, Off. Jason Trudeau, Off. James Phillips (Glastonbury), Sgt. Ryan Parsons (Cromwell), Off. Joel DiLoreto (Wethersfield), Off. Aaron Grechko (Vernon) - Medal of Valor - Individual efforts in the successful apprehension of an armed and barricaded suspect who fired on police vehicles.
  • Sky Therian - Achievement Award - Achievements attained despite physical and intellectual impediments.
  • Kenneth Conley - Citizen's Award - Hoisting a vehicle off of a victim who became trapped after a jack slipped on a truck he was working on.
  • Robert Clark and Amanda Kettle - Citizen's Award - Providing aid and assistance to a stabbing victim.
  • Mary Lou Romano, Diane Stack and Gale Tryon - Citizen's Award - School nurses who rendered aid to a middle school student suffering a potential life-threatening condition.
  • Denice Gagnon - Citizen's Award - Noting and providing information integral to the identification and apprehension of a robbery suspect.
  • Yahaira and Jose Santiago - Citizen's Award - Providing successful resuscitation to a child drowning victim.
  • Christopher Silva - Citizen's Award - Confronting burglary suspects and providing information which assisted in their apprehension.
  • Vangkou Thor - Citizen's Award - Apprehending and subduing a suspect he found burglarizing vehicles.
