ENFIELD, CT — Police Monday caught up to a man who engaged state troopers in a pursuit on Interstate 91 to begin the weekend.

On Friday, while conducting traffic enforcement operations on Interstate 91 northbound in Windsor Locks, a state trooper assigned to the Traffic Services Unit Aggressive Driving Team observed a dark colored Dodge Challenger operating "erratically and aggressively," according to a state police report.

The Challenger was clocked at 132 mph while passing other cars, according to a state police report.

As the trooper attempted to catch up to the Challenger, it accelerated and began passing vehicles while using both shoulders of the highway at speeds as fast as 140 mph, according to a report.

In "the interest of safety," the Trooper broke off the chase and exited the highway at the Exit 46 off-ramp in Enfield, but then noticed that the same Dodge Challenger had also exited Exit 46 and was located at the bottom of the ramp, according to a report. The Trooper then activated his lights and siren and attempted to pull the car over, but the Challenger abruptly accelerated, drove onto I-91 southbound and hit speeds in excess of 100 mph, according to a report.

The Trooper again broke off the pursuit.

The driver of the Challenger’s driver was subsequently identified as 23-year-old Enfield resident Trent Logan, state police said. On Monday, Logan was stopped while driving the Challenger by the East Windsor Police Department and taken into custody.

He was charged with:

  • First-degree reckless endangerment
  • Interfering with an officer
  • Reckless driving
  • Engaging police in a pursuit

Logan was held overnight on a court-set $75,000 bond at the Hartford Correctional Center. He was to appear in Hartford Superior Court, on Tuesday.
