ENFIELD, CT — The upcoming holiday weekend in Enfield will kick off with some unpleasant consequences for those opting to drink and drive.

The Enfield Police Department, in conjunction with other towns involved in the Metro Traffic Services team, will be conducting a DUI checkpoint Friday, May 24 from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. The checkpoint will be on Hazard Avenue, or Route 190, in the area of Palomba Drive.

Under Connecticut law, police must follow guidelines requiring notice of the operation be provided to the media at least three days in advance and officers asking all detained drivers the same initial questions.
