Elderly Man Rescued After Falling Into Pond In Enfield

Members of the Thompsonville Fire Department went into the water to rescue the man, according to the fire chief.

ENFIELD, CT — An elderly man fell into Freshwater Pond early Tuesday afternoon, and was rescued from the water by Thompsonville firefighters.

The man fell into the water around 12:30 p.m., and was clinging to a concrete retaining wall until the arrival of first responders. Thompsonville Fire Department members entered the pond and pulled the man to safety, then treated him for hypothermia and head injuries until the arrival of emergency medical services personnel, Fire Chief David Deskis said.

The man was transported by ambulance to a area hospital; his medical condition is not known, Deskis said.
