Eleanor M. Monette, 95; Lifelong Enfield Resident Who Enjoyed Spending Time With Her Family

Eleanor M. (Colton) Monette, 95, of Enfield, died Saturday (May 2, 2015) at Suffield House.

Born in Enfield on March 30, 1920 daughter of the late Wilbur and Ethel (Blowen) Colton she was a lifetime resident.

Before retiring in 1973 she was employed by Finest Stores for 27 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, going to Vermont with her daughters and arts and crafts.

She leaves her daughters, Joyce Mercik and her husband, Robert of Suffield and Darlene Licitra and her husband, Robert in Florida; a sister, Shirley Amell and her husband, Michael of Enfield; a son-in-law, John Nelson of Enfield; nine grandchildren, Robert and Steven Mercik, Lynn Brennan, Susan Davis, Lisa Smentowski, Annette Leuzinger, Robert Licitra, Rene’ Alderman and John Nelson Jr., 16 great grandchildren, Jack, Maggie, Ben, Will, Brooke, Kati, Alli, Charlie, Cody, Jonathon, Luca, John III, William, Dominique, Danielle, and Jeffrey.

She was predeceased by her devoted and loving husband, Wilbur E. Monette, her loving daughter Rosemary Nelson (who was her caregiver for many years) and a grandson, Brian Nelson.

Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 7th at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 383 Hazard Avenue, Enfield. Burial will follow at Hazardville Cemetery. Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 6th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield.
