Enfield Ambulance With Patient On Board Hit By Car On I-91: State PD
An East Hartford man has been charged with drunken driving after an Enfield ambulance was hit on I-91 in East Windsor, state police said.

EAST WINDSOR, CT — An Enfield ambulance transporting a patient was hit by a suspected drunken driver Thursday night on Interstate 91, state police said. State police chased down the car and took the driver into custody, according to an arrest report.
The incident took place at 10:42 p.m. State police said Enfield EMS was transporting a patient to Hartford Hospital on I-91 South.
The ambulance was then hit near Exit 44 in East Windsor by a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier with Ryan Gilbert, 31, of East Hartford, behind the wheel, according to an arrest report.

Gilbert did not stop, and state police chased down the Cavalier and pulled it over, according to an arrest report. Gilbert displayed "pinpoint pupils," appeared disoriented and refused to take a field sobriety test, according to an arrest report.
He was nevertheless arrested and charged with driving under the influence, failure to maintain the proper lane, evading responsibility and failing to move over for an emergency vehicle on a highway.

He was held overnight on $105,000 in total bonds and was to appear in Hartford Superior Court Friday, state police said.
