Enfield Assault Victim Claims Suspect Left Note on Wife's Car
The man sustained injuries to his face and arm after allegedly being struck with a wooden garden stake and a tire iron, according to police.

ENFIELD, CT — An Enfield man who police said was attacked with a tire iron and a wooden stake in an alleged employer-employee dispute last week has told Enfield Patch the altercation was over a note left on his wife's car, contrary to some portions of a police report.
Justin Werther, 31, was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace, second-degree reckless endangerment and carrying a dangerous weapon in connection with the July 29 incident.
Matthew Crouse of Crouse Construction, Werther's neighbor and employer, emailed Enfield Patch to clarify the circumstances surrounding the confrontation between Werther and him.

"Justin left a creepy note on my wife's car," Crouse wrote. "When confronted about it, he got hostile and agitated and denied it, so he got fired."
The note, which Crouse emailed to Enfield Patch and is pictured above, read:

After Werther allegedly assaulted Crouse with a wooden garden stake, causing a laceration near the victim's left eye, Crouse grabbed a garden tool to defend himself, according to the police report. Werther then "took a tire iron out of a company truck" and struck Crouse in the left arm, Crouse claims.
Werther is due to return to Enfield Superior Court Aug. 17.
