Enfield Board To Consider Application For Asian Eatery At Former Salon
Applicants seek to put Connecticut's first Teriyaki Madness franchise at 7 Hazard Avenue, in a space vacated by the closure of Supercuts.

ENFIELD, CT — An application to convert a vacant hair salon into an Asian food franchise will be considered by the Enfield Planning and Zoning Commission at its regular meeting Thursday night.
The Meraki Restaurant Group has applied to open a Teriyaki Madness "fast casual" restaurant at 7 Hazard Avenue. The site had previously been home to Supercuts, which closed several months ago. The building also houses an AT&T store and a Chipotle Mexican grill.
Ken Shanke, on behalf of the Meraki Restaurant group, has applied for a special permit to transform the vacant 1,380-square-foot space into Teriyaki Madness. The Seattle-based chain, with more than 125 stores nationwide, offers fresh-made Japanese teriyaki bowls with the motto, "We are delicious food that’s healthy. Not healthy food that’s delicious."

Since the space has not been previously occupied by a restaurant, a grease trap would be required.
A letter from the project manager indicates a maximum capacity of 20 customers, with about five employees working per shift. Typical hours would be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
