Enfield Booters Edge Coventry In Double Overtime

Anthony Romei's goal in the final minute of the second overtime provides Raiders with a 1-0 win Friday.

For more than 89 minutes Friday, the Enfield and Coventry soccer teams battled up and down the field, but neither squad was able to beat goalkeepers Michael Knapp and Nikolai Vanek.

Finally, just 21.9 seconds before the game would end in a scoreless tie, Anthony Romei broke free and bounced a shot past Vanek into the Coventry net, giving Enfield the lone goal in a 1-0 victory.

"Both teams have had that type of a season, where one bad bounce means the game," Enfield head coach John Mancuso said.
