Do you have a family? If so, please tell us about them.

I am married to my amazing husband, Jessie, for seven years. We have an 8-year-old son, Cameron, and a 5-year-old daughter, Tessa.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government? No

Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?

I am currently a BOE member, elected in 2021.

Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?

I am seeking office because I am a mom and concerned resident. I want to ensure that all students are receiving the supports and services that they need, and are able to reach their highest potential. I also want to ensure that our district staff and leaders have adequate resources to meet the needs of our learners. I believe in a collaborative school community, and I am hoping that I can encourage partnership and shared decision-making!

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is \_\_\_, and this is what I intend to do about it.

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is an inclusive school community where they are affirmed for who they are and have access to high quality education. And this is what I intend to do about it - I intend to continue advocating for students, their academic and wellness needs. I will continue advocating for support for our staff so they are able to do their job to the best of their ability. And, I will continue to inquire about our academic curriculum and supports, and advocate for the necessary resources to address the needs.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

The Democratic candidates stand with students, families, and staff. We value the diversity of our community, and work hard to ensure they have the resources needed to succeed. The Republican candidates are about power and control. They want to limit our curriculum, second guess admin and teacher decisions, and exclude members of our community.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

I intend to address the misinformation being highlighted by the Republicans. For years, the Republicans had the majority. They habitually underfunded our schools, which has left us with old buildings, underpaid staff, and failing academics. The newly elected Democrats are doing our best to fix this mess! We are committed to sharing information and including staff, students, and families in our decision-making.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I have been a long time advocate for education. I understand public education mandates, and the local resources available. For over two years I have advocated for more inclusive school policies and practices, and have supported our superintendent in creating a Parent Advisory Committee.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

To be a rainbow in someone else's cloud (Maya Angelou). You never know what someone is going through. To lead with love, empathy, and understanding.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I am committed to supporting Enfield. I am committed to asking the tough questions, encouraging courageous dialogue, and being a voice for all students, staff, and families.
