Enfield Council Authorizes State Emergency Management Grant Application

ENFIELD, CT — The Enfield Town Council has unanimously approved a resolution authorizing the town to apply for a state emergency management grant that helps fund local emergency preparedness operations.

The resolution was approved as part of the council's consent agenda during its July 13 regular meeting.

The consent agenda, which groups routine items for a single vote, authorized Enfield Town Manager Matthew Coppler, or his designee, to sign and submit the grant application to the Connecticut Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security on behalf of the town.

According to the resolution, Enfield is seeking $43,659 through the state's emergency management grant program.

The funding is based on the town's population and matches the amount awarded to Enfield last year.

The grant provides partial reimbursement for the Emergency Management Director's position, staff support, operational expenses such as office supplies, and the town's Everbridge emergency notification system.

Town officials said the funding helps offset the cost of emergency management operations and reduces the local tax burden associated with maintaining those services.

Enfield Emergency Management Director Steven Hall prepared the resolution and recommended the council approve the application.
