Enfield Drivers Warned About Delays

Motorists are being asked to plan ahead and allow extra travel time Thursday morning.

ENFIELD, CT — Drivers may need a little extra time Thursday morning as a Special Olympics tradition moves through town.

The Enfield Police Department said temporary traffic delays are expected Thursday, June 4, because of the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run.

The run is scheduled to begin at 9:45 a.m. from Kohl’s Plaza, police said. Participants will travel west on Elm Street and then south on Route 5 toward East Windsor.

Police encouraged motorists to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and use alternate routes when possible.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is an annual fundraiser and awareness event for Special Olympics. Law enforcement officers and community members carry the Flame of Hope as part of the effort to support Special Olympics athletes.
