Evidence presented at trial showed the defendant sexually assaulted a woman at a motel in Southington in 2024. After the sexual assault, prosecutors said, he physically assaulted and restrained the victim inside his vehicle while on a highway. At the time, he was subject to a court-issued protective order prohibiting contact with the victim.

Watson said domestic violence cases often reflect a cycle of abuse and expressed hope that the sentence represents a meaningful step in the victim’s healing process.
