Enfield Obituary: Mark Sitler, 61

Condolences to his family and friends.

Mark K. Sitler, 61 of Windsor, also known as the “Gentle Giant” passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by his family. Born in Hartford, to the late Paul and Catherine (Sakalauskas) Sitler, Mark lived in Windsor and Enfield.

He is survived by his cherished children; Matthew Sitler of Cromwell and Michelle Sitler of Enfield, his sister Jacqueline Mazur of Sorrento Maine his granddaughter Kelly Sitler, his longtime companion Barbara Winslow; and his former wife Marge Sitler. He also is survived by many dear lifelong friends, many cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, his was predeceased by his brothers, Wayne and Michael Killoran.

Mark’s life’s work was dedicated to carpentry creating beautiful home design improvements including detailed finish carpentry, running his rental tent company, raising his family and helping his friends. Anyone who knew Mark could count on him to help out with a move, a repair or whatever was needed. Mark also served for many years as a volunteer fireman in Wilson.

Mark was most happy spending time with his friends and family. Mark loved spending time on the ice watching his son’s hockey games, playing street hockey and spending time with his daughter as she learned his skills and trade. He enjoyed being outside and loved camping with family and friends. Mark was dearly loved by so many and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held at 12 PM Thursday, March 1 at the Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave Windsor. His family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday from 10 AM to 12 PM. Burial will be scheduled at the convenience of the family.
