ENFIELD, CT — An East Windsor man turned himself in at Enfield police headquarters Wednesday morning after learning of a warrant for his arrest on charges of possessing child pornography, Chief Alaric Fox said.

Robert Jeffers, 26, was charged with first-degree illegal possession of child pornography. According to Connecticut statutes, first-degree is charged when a person:

  • Knowingly possesses 50 or more visual depictions of child pornography, or
  • Knowingly possesses any depictions of child pornography that show the infliction, or threat of infliction, of serious physical injury.

Enfield authorities received a cybertip from Dropbox in February, via the National Center For Missing and Exploited Children. Detectives viewed a number of files provided, which were "graphic and involve juveniles," Fox said.

Through a search warrant and cooperation from Cox Cable, police located an Internet Protocol (IP) address at a house on Brainard Road. During an interview with Jeffers, he "acknowledged internet activity that exposed him to pornography," Fox said.

A search warrant for the house was obtained, and police seized a pair of cell phones which were sent to a lab for analysis. Investigators discovered 53 images and 32 videos of pornography on the phones, involving juveniles between the ages of 2 and 14, Fox said.
