Enfield Police Seeking Suspect In Attempted Robbery

A man attempted to rob a convenience store early Tuesday morning.

ENFIELD, CT — A man attempted to rob a gas station/convenience store on Route 190 Tuesday morning, and police are searching for the suspect.

Around 5:30 a.m., a man wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt pulled over his head entered the Shell station at 241 Hazard Avenue and demanded money, implying that he had a knife. The clerk replied there was no money in the store that early in the day, and the would-be robber fled, Police Chief Carl Sferrrazza said.

A police canine unit was called to the scene to attempt to track the suspect, but was unsuccessful, Sferrazza said.

According to police radio dispatches, the suspect appeared to be a white man in his late teens.

Sferrazza said police had cleared the scene by 8:30 a.m., and the store had reopened.
