Enfield Safe Harbor Warming Center Announces 2020 Opening

Enfield, CT – January 2, 2020 – Enfield People for People’s Safe Harbor Warming Center for the homeless opened its doors on January 2, 2020 at 9:00 p.m. Members of the Board of Directors, staff and community were on hand to welcome four overnight guests. During four years of operation, the Safe Harbor Warming Center has welcomed more than 100 guests averaging 10 guests per night and has been located at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church ,383 Hazard Ave in Enfield and. The Warming Center is on the Magic Carpet Bus Line and persons requiring transportation can obtain a bus token at Enfield Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen.

President Reverend Peter Bushnell said “Our goal is to provide a safe, warm place of rest for our homeless neighbors in Enfield during the coldest times of the year. This year the Board has extended the operating season from 75 to 100 nights, however, being open for 25 additional nights will require additional funding. If we run out of funds, we will have to close our doors.”

The Safe Harbor Warming Center is funded by donations to Enfield People for People a 501(c)(3) charity which has been active in Enfield since 1988.
