Enfield Town Council to Hear Casino Proposal
The south side of Enfield Square is being explored as a possible site of a satellite casino.

A special meeting of the Enfield Town Council Tuesday afternoon will allow councilors to hear a presentation from Enfield Square officials about the possibility of bringing a small casino to town, the Journal Inquirer reported.
Mayor Scott Kaupin told the JI the proposed location within the mall would be the current Macy’s Men’s and Home store on the south side of the building. For many years, that site was home to the JCPenney department store.
Officials of the Mohegan and Mashantucket Pequot tribes are looking to open a satellite casino on the Interstate 91 corridor north of Hartford, in response to the building of an MGM casino in downtown Springfield, Mass.
