ENFIELD, CT — The cause of a fire which ruined a raised ranch at 8 Dover Road early Tuesday morning is being investigated by local fire officials, the Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosion Investigative Unit and the Enfield Police Department.

The blaze was originally dispatched at 1:03 a.m. as a chimney fire, but was quickly upgraded to a structure fire. A married couple was inside the home at the time, but escaped without injury, North Thompsonville Fire Chief Earl Provencher said.

Firefighters took about a half-hour to knock down the main portion of the blaze, but a lot of hot spots remained, keeping personnel at the scene until about midday. No firefighters were injured, Provencher said.
