Fired Enfield Cop Files Appeal of Termination

Former officer Matthew Worden reportedly is seeking reinstatement and back wages.

A former Enfield Police Officer Matthew Worden is appealing the town’s decision to fire him, according to a grievance he has filed with the town.

Worden filed his grievance on Oct. 8 and Patrol officer Jaime Yott, suspended for 60 days, also has filed a formal grievance regarding her suspension, according to The Courant.

The department fired Worden and suspended Yott as well as Officer Michael Emons, following complaints of excessive force was used during an April 1 arrest. Both Worden and Yott claim they should be reinstated and paid for any loss of wages in their grievances that are now before the state Board of Mediation and Arbitration, according to the report.

Worden, who was on administrative leave since the incident that was captured on patrol car dash cameras, was fired by Police Chief Carl Sferrazza on Oct. 3.
