Flashback Friday: Do You Remember...?
An old advertisement and story of a business from Enfield's past.

ENFIELD, CT — In this weekly series, Enfield Patch remembers a business or landmark that is no longer in town through publication of old advertisements from some 1960s-1980s Enfield and Fermi high school yearbooks and early-1960s to mid-1980s telephone directories and newspapers.
Today's offering comes from the 1983 Fermi High School yearbook: an ad from the Hockey Swap & Shop, which was the primary store for new and used ice hockey equipment in town during the boom period of the late 1970s through the 1980s. At the time, the Enfield Hockey Association numbered more than 600 players.
Operated by the Griffin family, the store was originally located on Enfield Street, then moved in 1984 to the then-brand new Brookside Plaza on Hazard Avenue.
