Suspect In Enfield Shooting Arrested [UPDATED]

A shooting incident Friday drew numerous police vehicles to the Alden Avenue area.

ENFIELD, CT — A heavy police presence descended at a home on Alden Avenue following a shooting Friday morning, according to police.

Police Chief Alaric Fox told Patch a shooting occurred outside a house at 56 Alden Avenue. A victim was transported to Hartford Hospital with "a through and through leg wound," he said. The victim was identified as Jonny Pujols, 33, of Massachusetts.

Police were concerned there may be another person inside the house at 56 Alden, and issued a "shelter in place" order to residents in a quarter-mile radius of the scene while members of the Capital Region Emergency Services Team (CREST) worked to clear that address, Fox said.

The suspect, later identified as Nathaniel Rodriguez, 22, of 56 Alden Ave., contacted police and said he wished to surrender. He exited the house and was taken into custody without further incident, Lt. Willie Pedemonti said.

Rodriguez was charged with criminal attempt to commit first-degree robbery, second-degree assault with a firearm, altering ID marking on a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, unlawful discharge of a firearm, illegal possession of a firearm without a permit and possession of narcotics.
