Inmate Who Walked Away From Enfield Work Site Captured
Authorities had searched for the inmate since he went missing Saturday; he was apprehended late Sunday night.

ENFIELD, CT — A prison inmate who walked away from a furlough day program at Asnuntuck Community College early Saturday afternoon was captured late Sunday night.
Christopher Somsky, 45, was apprehended by the Department of Correction’s Fugitive Unit around 11 p.m.He was being treated for a hip injury, likely to have been sustained while on the run, at a local hospital when he was taken into custody, according to a statement from Karen Martucci, DOC Director of External Affairs.
Once medically cleared for discharge, Somsky will be transferred to Northern Correctional Institution in Somers, where he will be reviewed for placement on the agency’s highest level of supervision - Administrative Segregation, Martucci said.

Enfield police collaborated with state police, the DOC and U.S. Marshals in an effort to locate Somsky, a "low risk offender" who is serving a nine-year sentence for second-degree robbery at the Willard-Cybulski Correctional Institution on the Enfield/Somers town line.
"The Department of Correction is thankful for the external law enforcement collaboration. We cannot overstate the diligent work of our own Fugitive Unit that ultimately apprehended the escapee," Martucci said .

Somsky is serving a nine-year sentence for second-degree robbery and first-degree failure to appear in court, stemming from a Jan. 8, 2013 arrest by Bridgeport police, according to information on the Connecticut Department of Corrections website.
DOC Commissioner Rollin Cook has suspended all community-based educational and work furloughs pending a thorough review, according to Martucci.
