Kohl's Cares Donates $100,000 to The Network

Kohl's Cares gifts $8 million to nonprofits including a Kohl's Cares grant of $100,000 for health and wellness of north central CT families

Today, The Network announced that the organization has been awarded a $100,000 grant from Kohl’s through the company’s “A Community with Heart” program. This grant marks the largest single donation received in The Network’s 36-year history. Established in 1985, The Network provides free services which include outreach, crisis intervention, support and counseling services, as well as a 15-bed safe shelter for women and children. Dollars received will fund the necessary updates to the safe shelter infrastructure, specifically a much-needed new roof. For the past few years “band-aids” have been used to fix the roof problem. A permanent replacement is now in sight. In addition, this donation will go a long way in continuing the Home Safe Home initiative used to match gently used furniture to families moving to new homes. Many of the associated costs are not funded.

“Putting a roof over the heads of families fleeing domestic abuse is literally what this gift will accomplish,” said Karen Foley O’Connor, Executive Director of The Network. “With the support of Kohl’s Cares, we can move forward with this project, as well as an assurance of being able to navigate new programs and services beneficial to the population we serve.”

In the spirit of giving with all of its heart this holiday season, Kohl’s, through its A Community with Heart Program, donated $8 million in grants to selected nonprofit organizations across the country, demonstrating the company’s ongoing commitment to family health and wellness. Kohl’s store teams and leaders across the country identified and nominated nonprofit recipients from 49 states that are near and dear to their hearts. The full list of selected grant recipients is available on Corporate.Kohls.com.
