Moving Up Means Stepping Down For Enfield Wrestling Coach
He has resigned as wrestling coach at Enfield High School after accepting an assistant principal job at a town elementary school.

ENFIELD, CT — Enfield High School wrestling coach Andrew Duperre has resigned from his post, following acceptance of an assistant principal position at Hazardville Memorial School.
A homegrown product who graduated from Enrico Fermi High School in 2000, Duperre was a standout wrestler, leading the Falcons to a runner-up finish in the Class L tournament his senior year. He placed second in the 135-lb. division that year, then placed sixth in the State Open.
He returned to his alma mater in 2006 as an assistant to head coach Jeff Beiler, then moved on to East Windsor High School in 2009 for four years as an assistant under current Enfield assistant Jay Flynn.

When his young son began wrestling, Duperre became a volunteer coach at South Windsor High School and with Somers youth wrestling. Upon Beiler's retirement from coaching Enfield High School in 2018, Duperre was hired to replace him.
His lone season at the helm of the Eagles was highly successful, as Enfield posted its first winning record since the consolidation with Fermi in 2016. Seven Eagles were named to the All-CCC team, the program received votes in the statewide wrestling poll of coaches and sportswriters, and the team won a tournament (the Eagle Classic) for the first time in nearly two decades.

"I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to coach in my hometown and be part of revitalizing the Enfield wrestling program, youth to high school," he said.
Duperre has taught elementary school in Enfield for a dozen years. He started as a 4th-grade teacher at Alcorn School in 2007, then moved to Prudence Crandall upon Alcorn's closure. he was an academic coach at Edgar H. Parkman School for three years before returning to Crandall, where he taught 5th-grade for the past two years.
He will begin his first administrator job at Hazardville on July 2.
"I'm excited to be working with Principal Lisa Hunter and all the staff, of which I've heard all great things," Duperre said.
His wife, Lindsey, taught kindergarten at Hazardville Memorial for more than a decade before taking a position at Somers Elementary School last year.
"The school lost a Duperre, but is getting another one," her husband cracked.
