Negligent Homicide Charges Filed In Fatal 2019 Crash In Enfield
The crash on Christmas Eve 2019 resulted in the death of a 91-year-old lifelong Enfield resident, according to police.

ENFIELD, CT — A Christmas Eve collision on Route 190 which eventually claimed the life of an elderly woman resulted in negligent homicide charges being filed against the other driver, according to police.
Cindy Silva, 36, of Enfield, was charged on a warrant Monday with negligent homicide, risk of injury to a child, operating under suspension, traveling unreasonably fast and transportation of a child without a child restraint system, according to a report from Sgt. Matt Meier.
On Dec. 24, 2019, a car operated by Evelyn Lesniak, 91, of Enfield, pulled away from a stop sign on Jefferson St. in Hazardville into the path of a vehicle operated by Silva, heading eastbound on Hazard Ave. As a result of injuries sustained in the crash, Lesniak died Jan. 10, 2020, Meier wrote.

An investigation concluded Silva was traveling 55 miles an hour in a 35 MPH zone. She was also carrying an unrestrained 11-month-old child in her vehicle, and was also driving with a suspended license, Meier wrote.
Silva was released on a $50,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 24.
