Kathy Barron Announces Retirement After 13 Years as CEO of The Network Against Domestic Abuse

Kathy Barron who has served as The Network’s CEO for the past 13 years announces she will retire on October 1, 2019. “For the past 13 years I have had the honor and privilege of being part of an organization who is committed to helping victims of domestic violence and to educate the public about what we do. It’s been my pleasure to face the many challenges along the way and I’m confident in the direction the organization is heading.”
Debra Gish, The Network Board President commented “I am grateful to Kathy for her passion and commitment to The Network, as well as her compassion to those in non-healthy relationships. Under Kathy’s leadership, The Network is fiscally sound with a strong staff and Board of Directors. Kathy will be greatly missed by all who work with her, along with business leaders and members of the community. I value my experience of having the opportunity to work with her and cherish our continued friendship. ”
Ms. Barron came to The Network in 2006, where she oversaw extensive renovations to the Safe House, increased funding through grant opportunities, engaged the community and instituted staff training and education opportunities to meet the ever changing needs of the agency. Kathy has played a significant role in establishing programs in the local school systems where children are educated about healthy relationships, feelings and emotions; initiated professional development training for education, healthcare and human resource professionals and worked closely with local law enforcement experts within The Network’s catchment area of East Windsor, Enfield, Somers, Stafford, Suffield and Windsor Locks.

The Network’s Executive Director will continue the organization’s mission to assist families and individuals who have experienced domestic and intimate partner violence, educate to promote healthy relationships and advocate for safer communities.

Established in 1985, The Network provides free services which include outreach, crisis intervention, support and counseling services, as well as a 15-bed emergency shelter for women and children and a confidential 24-hour, seven day a week crisis hotline. In the past few years, The Network has made great strides in implementing and promoting client and child related programs, updating curriculum to educate children in the areas of bullying, self-esteem, healthy friendships and teen dating violence.
