Springfield College School of Professional and Continuing Studies Distinguished Senior Award
Springfield College senior Jacqueline Ortiz Miller of Enfield earned the Springfield College School of Professional and Continuing Studies (Springfield) Distinguished Senior Award.

Ortiz Miller received the honor at the recent Springfield College Academic Awards held on campus. The Distinguished Senior Awards are presented annually to graduating students who have performed consistently well in the classroom. The award recipients are chosen by their respective peers in their individual department.
Psi Chi Honor Society

On April 25, Eastern Connecticut State University inducted 43 psychology students into Psi Chi, the international honor society for psychology. Among the inductees was Madison LaRusso '17 of Enfield. LaRusso majors in Psychology.
Psi Chi's mission is to encourage excellence in scholarship and to foster the advancement of psychological science. Eastern students who are inducted into Psi Chi must declare a major or minor in psychology, have at least 12 credits of coursework in psychology and attain a 3.5 GPA in psychology and a 3.0 GPA overall.
Stonehill College Marketing Department's Outstanding Student of the Year
Enfield native Katherine E. Evans, a member of the Class of 2016 at Stonehill College, was named the Marketing Department's Outstanding Student of the Year at the recent Scholars Celebration held on campus. The departmental awards recognize upperclassman for their outstanding academic achievements.
Omicron Delta Epsilon International Honor Society
The Assumption College Department of Economics has announced that Stephen Picard ofEnfield, CT, has become a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, the International Honor Society for those who study economics. Picard, Class of 2017, was inducted into the honor society on Tuesday, March 31.
"We are excited to welcome the new members to Assumption's chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon," said Colleen Fahy, Ph.D., associate professor of economics and the honor society's advisor. "It is with great pride that we recognize this group of students for their hard work, discipline, and love for this field of study."
To qualify as a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, the student must be an economics major and carry at least a 3.0 grade point average in both the major and in his or her overall studies.
Eastern Students Perform in Spring Concerts
A number of talented student musicians and vocalists from Eastern Connecticut State University performed in concerts on April 23 and 24. The collaborative concerts included members of Eastern's Concert Chorale, Chamber Singers, Men's and Women's Choirs, Korean Samul Ensemble, String Trio, Wind Ensemble and Percussion Ensemble.
Among the performers was Emily Miclon '18 of Enfield, who majors in Political Science and Music, and Alexandra Prose '19 of Enfield, who majors in History.
Miclon also performed in the Performing Arts Department's academic year-end concert in the Fine Arts Instructional Center (FAIC) on May 1.
Coastal Carolina University Graduate
Tyler Demontigny, of Enfield, was among 1,100 candidates for graduation at Coastal Carolina University's commencement ceremonies on May 6 and 7, 2016. Demontigny graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in marketing.
Multiple Honors for Local Student at Clarkson University
Nicole K. O'Brien of Enfield, a senior at Clarkson University majoring in digital arts & sciences, received the following award(s) at the during the spring semester:
Phalanx Induction: Phalanx is Clarkson's highest recognized honorary leadership society. It consists of a group of selected members of the Clarkson community who have demonstrated leadership skills and active participation in campus activities, along with above-average academic abilities, outstanding character and high morals. Phalanx inducts new members during University Recognition Day.
Student Marshal Award: The privileged designation of Marshal is to honor students who stand out as leaders and demonstrate outstanding campus/community involvement and service.
The Commendable Leadership Award For Seniors: This award is presented to juniors, seniors, graduate students, faculty, staff and administration members who have demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities and quality participation in organizations associated with Clarkson and the Potsdam community. The award recipients exhibit exceptional leadership qualities and the versatility to balance all aspects of college life. New Phalanx members are selected from the group of Commendable Leadership Award recipients.
