No Parking Signs Coming To Enfield Streets

ENFIELD, CT — Temporary parking restrictions will be in effect on several streets near the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Society’s 100th Annual Italian Feast.

To help with safety and traffic flow during the event, temporary “No Parking” signs will be posted on at least one side of Park Avenue, Summer Street and Belmont Avenue, according to a parking notice shared by organizers.

The restrictions will be in effect from Thursday, July 30, through Monday, Aug. 3.

Vehicles parked in violation of the restrictions may be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense, according to the notice.

The parking update comes as the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Societyprepares for its 100th Annual Italian Feast at 93 Park Ave. in Enfield. The public event is scheduled for Friday, July 31, through Sunday, Aug. 2.

The celebration will feature Italian food and pastries, carnival rides, live bands, Italian singer Vittorio Di Carlo, accordion music, traditional Italian dancers and other cultural entertainment. Admission is $5, and children 12 and under are free.

The feast will be held rain or shine under a large tent with picnic tables on site. Organizers previously said parking would be available on nearby side streets and at Enfield Square, but drivers should watch for posted restrictions near the event area.

Friday’s events are scheduled from 5 to 11 p.m. and will include Di Carlo and featured nighttime entertainment by Jonny Six Gun.

Saturday’s events are scheduled from 5 to 11 p.m. and will include Di Carlo, traditional Italian dance troupe Le Sorelle d’Italia in America and featured nighttime entertainment by Deana Martin and Tony Orlando.

Sunday will begin with a traditional Italian Catholic Mass outside in the chapel at about 9 a.m. The Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Christopher J. Coyne and followed by desserts, refreshments and a procession of Our Lady through Enfield and Thompsonville with a live Italian band, organizers said.

Sunday evening feast hours are listed as 5 to 10 p.m., with Di Carlo and featured entertainment by The Brat Pack, an 80s tribute band.

Organizers said coolers, outside food and beverages, and pets are not allowed. Properly trained and certified service animals are welcome.

The Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Society was founded in 1926 by Italian-American immigrants in Enfield as a way to celebrate family, faith and Italian culture. The organization and its Women’s Auxiliary have supported the community through charitable work, scholarships and cultural events.
