ENFIELD, CT — The annual three-day Enfield 4th of July Town Celebration is slated for Friday through Sunday, July 7-9, and the Enfield Police Department is taking measures to ensure safe access for emergency vehicles to streets in the town green area.

In past years, tens of thousands of visitors have not only partaken in the festivities at the green, but have also caused some traffic nightmares by parking their vehicles on both sides of adjacent streets, causing congestion and narrowing of roadways and, on occasion, restricting emergency access.

To alleviate the situation, police will place "no parking" signs on one side of nine area roads. The edict will be in effect from Wednesday, July 5 through Monday, July 10, and violators are subject to enforcement action, including possible towing, police said.
