Why are you seeking this office?

I am running for re-election for state office to continue to apply my common sense approach to
government which I honed at the local-level for over 13 years and now at the state-level for
six years.

I believe I represent every resident and businesses of both towns in the 59th district equally,
with honesty, integrity and a sense duty to my community. We still have a long way to go to get
Connecticut back on track to fiscal stability. I am prepared to continue to work hard for another two years for the good folks of Enfield, East Windsor and Broad Brook. The budget will continue to be our biggest challenge over the next several years. My intention is to make sure we are constantly and earnestly searching for opportunities to streamline and restructure taxpayer-funded programs and agencies. Quite simply, Connecticut’s government services must become the most effective and efficient in the nation.

As a state representative who has a say on the biennial budget I view it as my responsibility to
citizens and taxpayers to manage their funds as frugally as possible for the betterment of all. Now more than ever we have to make every dollar count. The other huge issue for me is public safety, we need to give our police the tools and the ability to do their jobs knowing at night they will return to their families safely. Bringing your tax dollars back to the community from Hartford for Schools, roads and other infrastructure projects. Also the more dollars that are brought back from Hartford lessen the burden on your local tax dollars that you pay on your homes and motor vehicles.

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ___, and this is what I intend to do about it.

The affordability of CT, answered above in the prior question

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

My experience

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

Our Affordable Connecticut Act will reduce middle class income tax rates by reducing sales tax, gas tax making everyday items more less expensive. Also the phasing out of tax on retirement income. Families First Act ensures that parents and families are front and center when it comes to decisions made for the loved ones education and healthcare. I will put the victims rights ahead of the criminals and reverse the barriers that the opposing party had put in place to hinder police to be able to do their jobs safely.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I have worked on many budgets over the years having served on appropriations in Hartford, bringing back to my communities a total of 241,101,920.00 in Education dollars and and additional 31,497,165 for town aid. So a total of almost 273 million dollars back to my district. I am very proud of these dollars that I fought hard for. These are all dollars that help to lessening the burden you pay in local taxes. Fighting for the district to bring these dollars home have allowed us to renovate many of our schools, fixed our bridges and roads and funded a train station for downtown Thompsonville. I have hundreds of bills that I have co-sponsored and all can be found on the CGA website.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

Treat people the way you would want to be treated. Be honest with people, even if they may not agree with you. Your word is your bond, always keep your word.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I have served my constituents with honesty and integrity and will continue to do so. I work very hard to be a strong voice in Hartford for all the people of Enfield, East Windsor and Broad Brook. I thank you for placing your trust in me over the last six years and hope I can count on your vote this Nov. 8th.
