Picture Enfield - Then And Now
An old photograph and story from Enfield's past and how that site appears today, plus a trivia question.

ENFIELD, CT — For today's trip down memory lane, we delve into a fabulous book of photographs entitled Images of America: Enfield Connecticut, compiled for the Enfield Historical Society by Michael K. Miller and first published in 1998. The book consists of pictures from the 1880s through the 1950s.
This photo shows the former St. Joseph School building. The 6-room school was purchased in 1882 by St. Patrick's Church and moved to Cross and Pearl streets. It was utilized as a school until 1958. During the urban renewal project of the 1970s, the building was torn down, and the site is currently a parking lot for St. Patrick's Church.
Here is a Sept. 2018 view of the property, courtesy of Google Maps.
