ENFIELD, CT — In this periodic series, Enfield Patch remembers a business or landmark that is no longer in town. Today we feature a business card ad from 30 years ago, from the 1991 Fermi High School yearbook for 84 Lumber, located at 55 Hazard Avenue.

The building materials supply company was founded in 1956 in the Pittsburgh suburb of Eighty Four, Penn. The business grew rapidly, and the company opened 229 new stores during the 1970s. An additional 30 stores opened in the early 1980s, including Enfield in 1981.

The local store operated until 1995, when the property was sold. Today, the remodeled building houses Bear Pond Family Medicine & Pediatrics, NAPA Auto Parts and Physician One Urgent Care.
