Picture Enfield - Then And Now
An old photograph and story from Enfield's past and how that site appears today, plus a trivia question.

ENFIELD, CT — For the first throwback column of the new year, we look not at an old photo, but rather an ad which appeared 45 years ago, in the 1977 edition of the Fermi High School yearbook, Traces.
The Bull Pen Army-Navy store was in a small strip plaza at 132 South Road, just west of Klug's Bakery. Shoppers could choose from a full line of camping and outdoor supplies, as well as surplus Army and Navy clothing.
The plaza is still in place, though it is outdated and mostly vacant, with just Riverside Reptiles and the Great Wall Chinese restaurant in operation. By the way, the former Klug's Bakery is now the Moose Lodge.

Here is a more contemporary look at the plaza, taken earlier this week by yours truly.

This week's trivia question:
Ten years ago, at the end of the 2011-12 academic year, Enfield High School principal Tom Duffy retired after 13 years at the helm. Who replaced him? Post the answer in the comments section below under your real name (we'll see who follows directions).
