Picture Enfield - Then And Now
An old photograph and story from Enfield's past and how that site appears today, plus a trivia question.

ENFIELD, CT — Today's throwback feature is, in reality, not very old; the above photo was actually taken within the last 10 years or so. At the time, the building at 399 Enfield Street, constructed in 1940, had last been home to the Enfield Press for about 20 years, but that office, located on the second floor, was shut down in 2008 upon consolidation of the newspaper's publishing operation into Westfield, Mass.
For many years, the site was home to the J.T. Glista Insurance Agency. Since 2018, it has housed Classic Interiors, a company specializing in interior, kitchen and bath and commercial design, owned and operated by Marie Troiano.
Here is a contemporary look at the remodeled building, taken earlier this week.

Last week's trivia answer:
By popular request/demand/threat, we revived our trivia question feature last week. The question was, "Who was the first Fermi High School graduate inducted into the Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame?" The answer: Leah Secondo, a 1980 graduate and multi-sport standout who became a pioneering television sportscaster. She was actually the lone Falcon included in the inaugural Hall of Fame Class of 1996. The first person to correctly identify Leah was Gary DiBattista, who wins a 7-day, 2-night cruise to Willimantic.
This week's trivia question:
Who was the first woman to serve as mayor of Enfield? Directions: leave your answer in the comments section here on the story, not on a Facebook page. And remember, this is supposed to be a fun test of your town memory, not a race to see who can Google the answer fastest and pretend to be a big shot.
