An old photograph and story from Enfield's past and how that site appears today, plus a trivia question.

Remember Grossman's?
Remember Grossman's? (Charlie Manzone)

ENFIELD, CT — Today's installment of this weekly Enfield history series, courtesy of Smyth's Ice Cream owner Charlie Manzone, features an early 1990s view of the business which was directly across Palomba Drive from the stand: Grossman's Lumber.

If you blinked, you may have missed the short Enfield tenure of Grossman's. Located on the corner of Palomba Drive and Hazard Avenue, it closed in 1993. Walgreens, which recently acquired the longtime Rite-Aid Pharmacy, currently sits on the site formerly occupied by Grossman's.

Here is a more contemporary look at the property from Google Maps, taken Saturday afternoon.
